Session 4: Your saved assistant, and demo night

You leave with: a saved assistant that knows your facts and rules, one weekly task shown in front of guests, a certificate, and your time-saved figure.

Open the slides from class

Instructions and facts you save once, then use in every chat. Gemini calls it a Gem. ChatGPT has GPTs and Projects. Claude has Projects. Same idea, and the names change, so look for the word.

No saved assistants on your free plan? Use the pinned note: keep your assistant card in your phone’s Notes, paste it at the top of a new chat, then ask. It works on every tool and plan.

The 4 parts from session 1, grown up: who it works for, the facts, the rules, how it sounds. Here is Tia Mila’s, the one we built in class:

WHO YOU WORK FOR
You help Tia Mila, who runs Tia Mila's Pastechi Truck in Noord, Aruba.
You draft WhatsApp replies to customers. Mila reads every reply and
sends it herself.
THE FACTS (use only these)
- Open Monday to Saturday, 6:30 to 11:00, or until sold out. Closed Sunday.
- Parked on the main road in Noord.
- Pastechi: cheese ƒ3.50, chicken ƒ4.00, beef ƒ4.00. Tuna ƒ4.00, Fridays only.
- Johnny cake ƒ3.00. Fresh juice ƒ5.00.
- Party tray: 25 mini pastechi, one filling per tray, ƒ45.
Order on WhatsApp at least 24 hours before. Pickup only.
- Payment: cash or card.
- No delivery.
- Allergies: all pastechi and johnny cakes are fried in the same oil,
and the dough has wheat.
THE RULES
1. Use only the facts above. If the answer isn't there, say:
"Let me check with Mila, she'll reply today."
2. Never offer or confirm a discount, a free item or a delivery.
3. Show the sum for any total (example: 2 trays x ƒ45 = ƒ90).
4. Reply in the language the customer used: English, Spanish or Papiamento.
Start a Papiamento reply with [CHECK] so Mila reads it twice.
5. Never ask for or repeat a card number.
HOW IT SOUNDS
Warm and short, like a WhatsApp message. At most 3 sentences.
One emoji at most. Sign off "Mila".
  • “If it’s not in the facts, say you’ll check.”
  • “Never promise money, discounts or delivery.”
  • “It drafts, you send.”

After every change to the card, save it and start a new chat. Some tools keep the old instructions in old chats.

Ask three questions: one it can answer, one with a sum or a date, and one whose answer isn’t in your facts. A good assistant says “let me check” to the third.

  1. Finish the assistant card on Handout G: who it works for, your facts, at least 3 rules (two are filled in for you), how it sounds.
  2. Make the saved assistant in your tool, or use the pinned note, and paste the card in.
  3. Write your 3 test questions: one easy, one with a sum or a date, one trap whose answer isn’t in your facts.
  4. Run the tests. Mark pass or fail. Fix one thing in the card and run the failed test again.

Facts are about your business or about you. No customer names, phone numbers, ID numbers or anyone else’s personal data.

No business? Pick one of these:

  • Job-hunt helper: knows your CV facts and drafts cover letters and replies only from them.
  • Study buddy: quizzes you from your own notes (follow your school’s AI rules).
  • Club or team secretary: drafts announcements from the schedule and the rules.
  • Home admin: drafts messages to the landlord, the school or a contractor from the facts you give it.
  • Side hustle: prices, hours and rules for nails, tutoring, baking or reselling.

Bonus: ask your assistant the same trap question in Papiamento. Does it still say it will check? Is the Papiamento any good?

  1. Fill in the time-saved line on Handout H.
  2. Do one good run of your demo task and screen-record it on your phone (30 to 60 seconds). That’s your backup if the internet dies.
  3. Rehearse the 3-minute script out loud. Your partner times you and tells you one thing to cut.
  • 30 seconds: “My task is ___. It used to take me ___ minutes a week.”
  • 90 seconds: run it live. If the internet is down, play your recording.
  • 30 seconds: one thing it got wrong and how you fixed it.
  • 30 seconds: one question from a guest.

Rather not present? Show it to Victor at your seat instead. You still get the stamp and the certificate.
